The article "American Women Are At A Breaking Point" highlights how women often act as a “safety net” for American families in terms of childcare and household responsibilities. It recounts stories of women sacrificing their personal goals and dreams to prioritize family and child-rearing. The article also notes that fathers are generally less burdened by these expectations, allowing them the freedom to pursue their professional and personal ambitions. The notion of mothers being solely responsible for homemaking and caregiving is described as outdated and unrealistic. I aimed to emphasize the unattainability of these expectations by referencing the historical context of women shouldering family burdens. To illustrate this, I incorporated traditional Renaissance paintings of mothers and children, as well as ornate baroque-style frames, to underscore how antiquated these ideals are. Additionally, I utilized conventional feminine symbols such as flowers and gold details, modifying them to reflect the burden and loneliness many mothers feel as they often face child-rearing alone.
